Where can I purchase your products?

What is the difference between the Moulding gel and the Edge Gel?
The formulation between the two products is different.
The Edge Gel: Designed and formulated specifically for edges, creative edge art and fly aways. Suitable for wigs, weaves and natural hair. A little goes a long way and is easy to manipulate and work on the edges.
Moulding Gel: Initially designed and formulated for dreadlocks, braiding. It is now also used for up do buns and other hairstyles. It holds and locks the hair.
Both are non-flaking, no drying, do not cause residue, build up or itching.
Is the Detangling Spray a leave in or a wash out?
The Detangling Spray is a leave-in conditioning spray. It can be used after cleansing the hair, and before styling the hair. A tip, this product can be used to take out protective hairstyles or hairstyles created in a salon or at home. The detangling spray makes the ease of taking out previous hairstyles easier, reducing breakage and stress to the hair.
Does Moulding Gel or Edge Gel require me to wash my hair after every hairstyle?
No. The Moulding Gel does not cause build up, therefore, washing the hair after application is not a requirement. A quick rinse of the edges with water will remove any previous gel, if you so desire to reapply. We do suggest washing your hair with our shampoos and conditioners to ensure a healthy scalp.
Vida Is Life products are for what type of hair?
Vida…is life is suitable for type 3 & 4 hair. Our products can be used on natural hair, synthetic hair, dreadlocks, wigs and weaves. However, some of our products are for all hair types. You can find this information when searching a product on the website. An icon will indicate if for all hair types, wig or weave specific or type 3 & 4 hair specific.
What products do you have for a troubled scalp? (Itch, dandruff, flaking, dry scalp)
- The Scalp Control Treatment with shea butter focuses on soothing an irritable scalp. It decreases dandruff and itching.
- The Sensitive Scalp Spray Treatment which is for tight hairstyles that may cause irritability or dandruff. It is perfect for a sensitive scalp.
- The Braid & Conditioning Spray Treatment, which is for protective hairstyles, it conditions a dry scalp and fights off any bacteria found on the scalp.
Which Vida Is Life products can I use on my wigs?
We recommend the below products:
- Vida Is Life New Range: Luxury Shampoo, Rinse Out Conditioner, Leave-In Conditioner for wig washing, nourishing, and conditioning, leaving the wig looking brand new!
- The Hair Serum for a frizz-free wig glow
- The Edge Gel for styling wig edges.

When using the Highlight kits, is there a need to bleach my hair first?
No. The Highlight kits are a bleaching and toning system, therefore, there is no need to bleach the hair first. Please follow directions on the packaging carefully to achieve the best results.
A patch test and a hair strand test are vital to complete before proceeding to dying the hair. The hair strand test will ensure you have the correct time to leave the product in your hair for in order to achieve the desired hair colour.
Looking for a product that would assist with hair growth, thinning of hair or a receding hairline?
Our Hair Treatment is specifically formulated to stimulate hair growth, repair a receding/thinning hairline, as well as generally making the hair fuller.
Which products can I use to condition my hair during washday?
We would recommend using our Leave-in Conditioners, both enriched with coconut oil, soy bean and olive oil for hydrating and softening the hair.
The Leave-in Conditioner from the Vida Curls Range works best on kinky, coily, and curly hair. It is mineral oil free, paraben free, petroleum free, sulfate free, and cruelty free.
The Leave-in Conditioner from the Vida Is Life New Range is best for dreadlocks, wigs, braids, cornrows, and chemically treated hair.
How often should I use a Hair Masque?
We recommend using one of our hair masque’s as often as your hair desires. If you find that your hair tends to feel quite dry, you can use it more often as its purpose is to repair, restore, nourish and moisturize. Just remember to wash it out as it is not a leave-in.
Are Vida Is Life products safe to use on dyed/chemically treated hair?
Yes, our products are safe to be used on previously dyed/ chemically treated hair.
Can I use these products on my little one?
Are these products only available in South Africa?
No, our products are available in Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana. Please visit our store list for more information.

Is the Darkening Cream a leave-in or a wash out?
The Hair Darkening Cream is a leave-in cream that gradually darkens grey hair. We recommend using the product 3 to 4 times a week for optimal results.
Which products can men use on your range?
Everything! Our brand is for men and women.
We recommend using the Sulfate Free Shampoo, Leave-in Conditioner, and the Conditioning Scalp & Hair Oil from the Vida Curls Range for a more kinky, curly, and coily hair and beard. This range is free of parabens, mineral oil, petroleum and sulfates.
As well as the Luxury Shampoo, Leave-in Conditioner, and Conditioning Scalp and Hair Oil from the Vida Is Life new range for dreadlocks or chemically treated hair.
We also recommend the Scalp Control Treatment for dandruff and itch control, as well as the Hair Treatment for hair/beard growth stimulation.
Can I mix the Detangling Spray with water?
We would not recommend mixing the Detangling Spray with water. The Detangling Spray has a light weight formula and is not heavy on the hair. If the product is diluted we cannot guarantee the same result.
